I've worked in IT since leaving the British Army in 1997. I became interested in scripting in 1998 after becoming frustrated with a manual user creation process... having so few options for Windows scripting, I turned to perl. I've dabbled in all the Windows scripting languages over the years eventually taking a job as an automation engineer in 2012. All the above is still relevant but I have moved tangentially since: I'm now heavily using python3.x in Linux environments, processing 100k+ events per second in a security data processing team.
