How to view the contents of a .pem certificate?

Tags:

keytool

People also ask

Are PEM files public?

PEM certificate contains public key only or private key only or both. To understand difference between Public Key Algorithm and Signature Algorithm sections read this (both are public).

An alternative to using keytool, you can use the command

openssl x509 -in certificate.pem -text

This should work for any x509 .pem file provided you have openssl installed.

Use the -printcert command like this:

keytool -printcert -file certificate.pem
