A 'Free' tier Heroku account allows up to 5 apps. How many apps does a 'Hobby' plan allow for?
I have looked on the Heroku general pricing page, detailed pricing page, and on a few related pages e.g. 'Choosing the Right Heroku Postgres Plan', but I can't see any explicit mention of how many apps I can deploy
Could it be that a "Dyno" is in fact another word for an app? And therefore there is no limit on the 'Hobby' tier, but I must pay $7/app/month?

A 'Free' tier Heroku account allows up to 5 apps.
By default, applications are limited to 100 total dynos across all process types. Apps running on free or hobby dynos can have only one dyno running per process type. Apps running on free dynos are limited to a maximum of two concurrently running dynos.
One reason for the change was to reduce fraud and abuse of the free tier, the company said. “Our product, engineering, and security teams are spending an extraordinary amount of effort to manage fraud and abuse of the Heroku free product plans,” said Bob Wise, Heroku General Manager and Salesforce EVP, in a blog post.
Heroku offers low-cost plans to help you learn and get started on the platform. Heroku Buttons and Buildpacks are free, and many Heroku Add-ons also offer a free plan. Experiment easily with different technologies to discover what works best for you and your apps.
In case it's useful to someone else the answer is:
"there is a soft limit of 100 apps per (Hobby tier) account".
